My name is Shaun Henry Tait, and my journey has been anything but a straight line. Many of you remember me from the bright lights of the stage as a 2006 winner on Supersterre created and presented by Patricia Lewis, with my mentor being Nadine at the time. I reached the heights of success, feeling the roar of the crowd and the weight of a title. But as I quickly learned, the higher you climb, the harder the fall can be.
I lost my way. I drifted from the peak of my career into the dark depths of addiction, losing sight of who I was and the talent I had been given. I lived through the "druggie" headlines and the private agony of hitting rock bottom. But the most painful part of that descent wasn't the loss of fame — it was watching those I love most suffer because of my choices.
For a long time, my family has been pulling on the short end. While I was lost in my own struggle, they were the ones carrying the weight, enduring the worry, and facing the consequences of my absence. Rebuilding my life isn't just about survival — it's about making things right for the people who never gave up on me, even when I had given up on myself.
Today, I'm a comeback story — not just because I'm standing again, but because I'm standing with purpose. I've seen the best of life and the absolute worst of it. I've made the mistakes, survived the crashes, and found the strength to rebuild from the ground up. I am proof that you can pick up the pieces, no matter how small they've been shattered.
